Sri Aman peat: Settlement observation and geotechnical properties investigation

This paper presents the findings from field observation and site exploration for construction on peat in Sri Aman, Sarawak, Malaysia. A visit to Balai Bomba Pejabat Metrologi Aman has been done August 2019. From measurement conducted two locations of constructed area shows settlement, δ recorded ranges 100 mm 150 mm. sampling determination geotechnical properties Aman. The depth is about 2.88 m results show that high natural moisture content 900 % 1400 %. organic (OC) range 70 %-90 a 0.5 m, categorized as H3, fibrous except first 63 which fall under H5, hemic group according Von Post classification.
